This
vintage chest was a $5.00
garage sale find, and
in rough shape at the
time it was found.
It's
practical usefulness
was nearly at the end
of the road, and its
future looked very bleak
(Firewood City).
The
frame was solid and the dovetail
joinery indicated quality construction,
but most importantly, its "spirit" was
whispering to me as I looked
it over. |

We
decided to restore and
finish it in colors and
style to match a young
girl's bedroom. In addition
to several hours of detailed
hand painting, we used
antique drawer pulls
and a beveled glass top.
In
short, we turned this old relic
into a unique family heirloom.
Now it makes a statement and
its spirit is no longer whispering!
Both the young lady and her
family are thrilled with this
piece. Its appraised value
now exceeds $2,000! |
